Travel[in]4Good, a LinkedIn employee led initiative, is open to ALL VOLUNTEERS who want to support children in Tanzania gain access education and to make an impact as they travel the world and discover beautiful cultures.
We are 100% volunteer based and so is the non-profit that we partner with. So 100% of the money that we raise goes directly to the projects that we collectively support.
With NO OVERHEAD COSTS!
Karim Child Care Centre is a beautiful home to 38 children who have had a hard life, but are lucky enough to have Mama Rehema to take care of them with love, support, education and nutrition. If you want to sponsor one of these children, you can KNOW that you are paying directly for the costs of the school tuition, housing, transportation, food, books, uniforms, and medical insurance (+ feminine hygiene needs or baby diapers/formula where appropriate). What a huge difference a small amount of money per year can make!
Babies - 0-6 years old = approx $400-$600 per year
Primary School - 7-11 years old = approx $600-$900 per year
Secondary School - 12-17 years old = approx $900-$1,400 per year
University - 18 years old + = approx $1,500-$2,000 per year
You can stay in touch with the child that you are sponsoring directly through Mama Rehema, send holiday messages and see the report cards for the work that they are putting into their education!
Be a part of a small leadership team which activates a large network of supporters to raise funds for a specific project at either Karim Child Care Center or Lengiloriti Maasai Community. We host in-person events, virtual activities, email / word of mouth campaigns and get corporate matching for any appropriate funds. The financial goals are for specific projects which are built and put into action within a few months of the fundraising completion (often with our "traveler" witnessing this action on the ground in Tanzania).
Let us know if you would like to lead a fundraiser
We will help you set up any marketing or branded content that you need
We can work together to offer suggestions of events that have worked in the past
We will make sure that you understand how your efforts will support these beautiful people and what outcomes we expect when the word it done!
Would you like to come meet the people that your efforts are supporting? We bring a group of 10-20 fundraisers to Tanzania once or twice per year. All travelers pay for their own travel, but we have local relationships to get very reasonably priced accommodations, food and even "extracurricular" excursions like Safari, Zanzibar trips, Kilimanjaro Mountain Climbs, etc.
Pay for your own flight, hotel, food, transportation and excursions.
Your can choose your accommodations, but we recommend that you stay near the Karim Orphanage so that you can spend time with the kids and to get to know the area. There is a beautiful "Home Stay" small boutique hotel very nearby, which is a special, beautiful experience in and of itself and the owner, Hillary, is a kind, smart, hardworking man who built it from the ground up.
Go for a very unique overnight experience to meet the beautiful people in a remote Maasai village called Lengiloriti. You can meet the village elders, Loshiro and Samwell who will explain and show you the past projects, including the new Primary School for 763 children, the water well which pumps clean, safe water from almost 800 feet below the surface for the 20,000 people of this area and the Medical Clinic whose new doctor has been sent to support the serious issues associated with their high Maternal Death Rate, the high Infant Mortality Rate, wide spread mallaria infections, and other ailments that would otherwise not be treated.
Work with a tour guide (we have a good friend who gives particular "local" rates) to book any extensions to your trip where you would like to enjoy the incredible tourism options, which people travel from around the world to see. Be sure to look up Serengeti Safari, Ngorongoro Crater, Mount Kilimanjaro Summit, Zanzibar beach vacation, Uganda Gorilla trekking, Gombe National Park / Jane Goodall Chimpanzee Institute. These are all beautiful experiences and we hope that you spend time seeing the country while you are there.
If you are willing to help us get our message out to more people, we would LOVE for you to be an Awareness Ambassador! We will send you updates and information for you to share with your networks on social media, email, by word of mouth and anywhere that you can
We provide content to you.
You share out with your contacts on Social Media, email, team meetings, family get-togethers and to anyone else who would like to learn about these projects!
Provide us feedback about what content is helpful and what we need to clarify.
There are so many questions that you will likely have and we will be happy to help you understand how your time, talent and treasures donated to this cause will be worth your effort!
